Google Search: Event Calendar

The search engine that is Google is not only amazing, it is responsive, constantly changing and full of anomalies.

Imagine how complicated the algorithm is that decides how results are shown?

Indexing content aside, search engine results are what every Google customer is interested in.

An anomaly we see relates to “event” websites.  The current (2018) algorithm groups the results into one basket.

My suggestion to Google: the content has to be in a searchable date calendar.

An event calendar allows a user to pick a definable date (date picker).

Examples of websites with calendars:

  • concreteplayground.com
  • eventfinda.com.au
  • eventful.com

A website that is not searchable by date is little more than a guide to what’s on.  This includes websites that list events by today, tomorrow, this week, this weekend, this month, etc.

Examples of websites without calendars:

  • theurbanlist.com
  • timeout.com
  • weekendnotes.com
