Blocked Website

Types of

The web needs security but, it must be accountable.  Before the govenment or software providers block a website, the owner must be given cause to challenge.

The number of false blocks is staggering, no doubt as many as genuine blocks.  When a website is falsely blocked, it is a restraint of trade.

We are calling on security software companies to incorporate an alert and deactivate process when it suspects a website has been compromised.

In one week, we were alerted to two cases where SSC blocked access to websites under false circumstances.

Neither website contained had been compromised.

Both websites were WordPress, both with security plugins.

Common Issue

It appears it is more common than general known.  A quick search reveals a variety of common search terms many associated with ISP’s.

Common search terms

  • website blocked reporting
  • How do you know if a website is blocked by ISP?
  • How do you check what websites are blocked on my computer?
  • Can an ISP legally block a website?
  • What sites are blocked?
  • is my website blocked
  • how isp block websites
  • isp blocking
  • blocked website test
  • how to see what sites are blocked
  • websites being blocked

The above problem relates to websites, there is also an issue with blocked email accounts and blocked IP Addresses.

In all cases, faceless companies deny access by way of reporting but fail in each case to alert the owner.

This is LOSS OF TRADE.  It is a clear case of anti-competitive denial of business for which they need to be accountable.
