How to remove Comments from WordPress in 3 easy steps…
I searched everywhere including StudioPress but could not find how to remove the Comments | Speak Your Mind functionality from my wordpress web site.
When I finally did find it, I muttered.. it was so easy, I can’t believe I forgot it.
Go to the page or post that you want to hide (remove) the comments “Speak Your Mind” and 4 fields (Name, Email, Website and Comments box).
Look at the top right corner of the admin edit page for a tab that says Screen Options.
When you click on the tab the page will display extra page options panel.
- Tick the box next to Discussion, then click the tab again to close the option pane.
- Scroll down the page and look for a box named ‘Discussion’.
- Uncheck the Allow Comments box and update the page/post, and voila, the comments will be gone.
Global Function
I am yet to find a way where this can be done globally. In other words, by default, no page/post allows comments but I am sure there must be a way of achieving it. If you do know, please drop me a line.

Gauging by the comments coming through (isn’t that a giggle), many have said there is also a plugin that disables comments: Disable Comments
Allows administrators to globally disable comments on their site. Comments can be disabled according to post type.
