WordPress Plugin Updates: Do They Ever End?

Is it just me? WordPress plugin updates never seem to end.

I totally understand regular updates to “security” plugins but why are there so many for “SEO” plugins?

Almost every week there is an update, messages all over admin alerting changes, bla bla bla.

A common culprit is NextGEN Gallery,  it too seems to update every other week.

But the one that really annoys me is yoastYoastSEO which must have an update at least once a week.

Heres my thinking.. the updates are to push the software under our noses hoping we’ll migrate from free to premium.

Fine I suppose if you have one web site, but when you are managing many its a right pain in the ***.

As Pauline Hanson would say “please explain”?

Update 2017

Well, how dumb do I feel!

No plugin is immune to becoming a security vulnerability, even simple plugins. Simply put, the older a plugin’s code, the higher the risk of security issues.
