I arrived at work one cold morning in August 2004 to our worst case scenario.. our web site was not only down it had vanished.  It did not take long to discover that a fire in the data centre where our web site was being hosted had knocked out every single web site on the server.

With calm fingers I dialed the number of our in-house support crew and requested our back-ups be restored at a different data centre.  I then updated the domain name to point at the new data centre.

Roughly one hour later, we were back online!

A year later, a client called in despair.  Her web designer had sabotaged her web site and had blocked access to her CMS.

BACK-UP

A back-up is a copy of the files/s stored in two separate physical locations in case of emergency.  Back-up copies can be restored on the same server or new server using cPanel Restore.

  • Data (Database) back-ups nightly
  • File (Home directory) weekly, monthly

DATA

Data generally refers to databases that store the content of web sites that are managed in CMS, WordPress, Joomla etc.

FILE

Often referred to as the Home Directory, this service backs up your web site html, php files, admin, cms, email folders.

DISASTER RECOVERY

Based on the situation, our support team restores your web site to live status and fully operational.
