Hello, I am just curious if our Automatic 2013 MY14 Holden Cruze 1.6L Turbo SRI will be able to tow a trailer + boat? won’t be a huge boat obviously, Be either a tinny or a small boat. Roughly 4 meters in length. Something like this –

The towbar I’ll be purchasing is rated to1200kg.
The cruze looks to be
– Towing (unbraked) 695 kg
– Towing (braked) 1200 kg
Does this information help anyone decide if I’ll be fine to launch at Saint Kilda or any other flattish boat ramps in South Australia?
As for towing I think you will be fine. I towed 1000+ kg with 1.8l Corolla with no issues at all. Standard trailer + tinny should be lighter than that. Trailer is about 160-200kg and small 4m boat/tinny can be anywhere between 400-800kg. Don’t do it very often though, as the gearbox in a small car is not designed for this.
I’m not sure about launching/retrieving on a slippery ramp though.
