Some rather interesting outcomes of software updates for our Sat Nav (GPS).<\/p>\n

We had noticed changes in road conditions that were not reflected or shown in our Sat Nav so before a service I asked if there was a software update.<\/p>\n

I was told the software update would cost a whopping $390… WTF!<\/p>\n

Hey mate, I want the software updated not a brand new GPS installed.<\/p>\n

Apparently I wasn’t the only one staggered by the cost.<\/p>\n

You wont see “Peninsular Link” unless you update the software.<\/p>\n

I asked if there was any course of action I could take to complain? \u00a0Yes, to Holden Customer Care.<\/p>\n

Did that and received a phone call from them..<\/p>\n

To cut a longish story short, it was still going to cost $390 to have the software updated.<\/p>\n

Apparently Holden has significant costs testing software updates (pfft) and need to pass on the costs to recoup theirs.<\/p>\n

What a load of TISH<\/p>\n

As much as I love my Cruze, this unreasonable cost means this will be our last Holden car. This is not support or care from a company but price gouging at the extreme.<\/p>\n

No longer! \u00a0If Holden cannot support me, then why should I support them.<\/p>\n

Let’s be clear.. it is a file. The file is on a flash drive that is inserted into a usb port and uploaded to the unit. I estimate it would take a technician roughly 5 minutes. <\/p>\n

There is a considerable thread at Whirlpool on the GSP Software that starts off talking about it compared to a TomTom but then ends up a debate on updates, costs and responsibility..<\/p>\n
